Fixers Collective
The Fixers Collective is a social experiment in improvisational fixing and mending that grew out of a yearlong exhibition at Proteus Gowanus entitled MEND.
See the Fixers Collective interview and video on WNYC’s Brian Lehrer Show.
The Fixers Collective meets every Thursday evening from 6-9 pm at Proteus Gowanus.

All are welcome to attend you don’t have to know anything!
How It Works: We place our broken objects on our large, common fixing table for collective consideration and share ideas and techniques for repairing, mending, enhancing or repurposing the objects before us. Our skilled Master Fixers provide support and guidance as needed.
For a $5 donation, you can get help fixing your broken thing OR you can sign up to become a Fixers Apprentice* and earn your Fixers Apprentice Badge!

It’s a fixing feast, a ritual of renovation!
By the way, if you fill out and send in the FIX SHEET before you come in, we’ll be better prepared for whatever strange object you haul through the door.
New to the Fixers Collective!
THE FIXERS APPRENTICE PROGRAM
In exchange for free access to our weekly workshops, a Fixers Apprentice fixes five things at the Collective and donates two to Proteus Gowanus to sell. Apprentices work with our Master Fixers and others to develop improvisational fixing skills and to help the Fixers Collective thrive.
Come to a workshop to find out more!
*Commercial exchange of skills does not play a part in the Collective, though bartering and donations are welcome.

Dear Fixers:
I dropped in twice before and left a flourescent light fixture. I want to fix the dark corner in my room by making a light sculpture. So I need to understand how to connect wires and extension cords.

Dear menders,
I’m intrigue with what you’re doing to fix things “big and small.” Where is your address or tel # so I can bring items I need fixed? I’ll be willing to donate more than $5 depending on the value of the broken item. Thanks for what you do.
Sincerely,
Ding
